On October 25-26, 2024, AFSCME Council 3 hosted its much-anticipated statewide convention. Local 3661 was proud to send a dynamic group of delegates representing all the agencies we serve. Our delegates included Rayneika Robinson, La'Quan Alston, Shanee Jones, Zjniaiya Francis, Mandie Otto, Denna Avila, Oluwasuen Dada, and Tiara Stirkens. The convention was a celebration of unity, filled with enthusiasm and camaraderie. Our Executive Vice President, La'Quan Alston, served on the convention's election committee and chaired the Election for the Parole and Probation Caucus. Additionally, our local President, Rayneika Robinson, served on the convention's rules committee.

Local 3661 successfully passed Resolution #1 without opposition, focusing on recommitting to advocating for the health and safety of our members and working together to get the Agent Davis Martinez Act passed this legislative session.
Inspiring Guest Speakers
We had some amazing guest speakers. AFSCME International President Lee Saunders delivered a speech acknowledging the hard work of AFSCME Maryland, while AFSCME International Secretary-Treasurer Elisa McBride discussed the strength of our union. We also heard a promising speech from Governor Wes Moore, who talked about the strength of unity and stated that AFSCME is Maryland's heart. County Executive Angela Alsobrooks pledged her allegiance to unions in her inspiring speech.
