Local 3661: Wrapping Up Our Member Meet-Up Tour

We’ve just completed our Member Meet-Up Tour—and what an experience it’s been. From Cumberland to Salisbury, Westminster to Elkton, we had the privilege of traveling across the state to meet face-to-face with our fellow community corrections professionals.
At every stop, we listened. And we want you to know: we heard you.
Over the course of the tour, we visited more than 30 locations, including Prince Frederick, Frederick, Waldorf, Upper Marlboro, Hyattsville, Owings Mills, Leonardtown, Rockville, Ellicott City, Catonsville, Glen Burnie, Baltimore Central Booking, Oakland, Snow Hill, and the DPSCS Headquarters—just to name a few.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with us. As your local, we deeply value these conversations. Your input is already shaping how we advocate, organize, and push for the changes you deserve.
Across the state, some common themes came through loud and clear:
- Chronic staffing shortages that make the job harder—and more dangerous
- Breakdowns in communication from leadership
- Inadequate defensive tactics and in-service training
- Overwhelming caseloads
- Unclear and inconsistent telework policies
- And much more
These aren’t new issues—but they remain urgent. Hearing them directly from you, in your own words, reinforces our commitment to fighting for solutions that reflect the reality of your work.
If we missed you during the tour, or if you have more to share, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here for you—and we’re keeping the conversation going.
Thank you for your continued dedication and service. The work you do matters deeply, and we’re proud to stand with you every step of the way. We’ll keep you updated as we move forward—together.
